To defeat these extremists one needs to operate on the same level as them: use their own tactics against them.

For example:

Carry suicide operations wherever they hold public shows, assasinate their leaders even while praying or inside mosques.

Those extremist acts have been carried by them against their opponents, so why not use it against them?

As can be seen, their soldiers do not number more than 200. They rely on Propaganda, Terror (suicide operations and threatening people) and Urban guerrila warfare.

All those things can be used against them, if only there was a determined opponent who would go to extremes to fight them.
