Do you think this is coward

Postby hanad_mn » Fri Jan 01, 2010 9:01 pm

Guys,

I am tired of this police profilling for at highways and airports because of My arabic Names.

I am planning to Change My Name and My father's name to My Naynaas and My fathers Naynaas so that all my 3 names are somali names so which would make me real African. I am tired of being profilled as an arab which I have no ancestry roots to. So is it haram to call My Self My Naynaas , My fathers Naynaas and my grandfather's real name.

I believe that if I do that, I can just be like other africans.

it would be something like

Guled duale samatar, or farah guure kaahiye, or keynaan suudi abtidoon.

what do you think?

I know this hanad guy is nin ilaah iska wato..who hardly thinks twice of what he writes here..

But to this day I dont get where the hate and dislike SOME somalis have for Arabs in general eminates from,
though if one thinks... even superficially..there was and still is more good than bad that Arabs did for their somali(who def. have some arab blood in them) brethren.

It depends on whether you're secular or not. If you're, then it shouldn't bother you changing your name.

sxb I don't hate arabs but I don't want to be punished for their identity either. If the west hates them, I can't help it and I don't want to be part of it.

I don't believe I am an arab. I believe I am a somali and an african. I don't think arabic names is religious thing. \

I can still go to Jannah without having arabic names.Djiboutians don't name their kids arabic and they are still Muslims.

That's not a reason to change a name given to you by your parents.

There is no such thing as an Islamic name. As long as your name isn't heretical or associated with divinity, you can be named anything you want. Change it to Gordon for all we care! But who gave YOU the authority to change your Fathers name?

Reminds me of the Jews who changed their names during the Holocaust like Berkenweitz to Burkenwrought. It did not change a damn thing and as some one else told you unless you were born in the U.S. (which you have already said you were not) then your passport is always going to say "Somalia" as your place of birth. There goes the airport thing.

It probably has something to do with them associating the diin, which is what they really hate, with arabs. I am certain none of those who hate arabs would hate them if they, the arabs, were majority non-muslim like say the Italians who are more deserving of Somali hate because of colonialism. Like you said though it is only SOME somalis and not all and I believe most, if not all, of them are based outside of the country.

Adigoo cirka dhex dabaalaneysid bey topic'yada kugu soo degaan eh? You don't want the name your parents gave you yet you're willing to take a name which you have little connection to? How about I make it easier for you.... Sadexdaan mid ka soo saaro Josh, Alex ama Trey'Quan. There you go, you're far from being suspected of having any type of connection to Al-Qaeda. Boom.
