Diyeeshe

With respect to Kenya, I think they increased the number of ministries after the recent political crisis when the PM post was created as way to end the violence until the next election. That number will probably be decreased after theres a clear winner in the next election, Kenya also has the largest economy in East Africa.

It's all qabiil politics, guy's clan won't support the government unless their MP has a minister title.

Problem isn't the TFG, the problem is qabiil-based politics.

James,

A better system would be based on how much $$$, manpower and might you bring to the TFG, the more you do, the better your portfolio choice.

Rewarding paperlords, civil society and other nonarmed characters is useless.

How can you reward Sharif Hassan as a Finance Minister, or Omar Abdirashid as PM, or Sheik Sharif as President when all three can not bring significant manpower or clan power to assist the TFG in its war against the Qaeda

So make the link between national governance and clan power linked.

Ironically one of the few things all Somalis can support about Al Shabaab is the social transformation they have jump-started which has de-emphasized the political nature of clans.

Voltage,

If you mean remarkable as in praising known terrorist organizations, I am not remarkable.

I don't speak fondly of terrorist organizations, praise them or in any way condone their actions.

The fact they have deemphasized if not destroyed tribal politics from the places they rule is not up for debate.

The whole purpose of these ministries is not to actually run the country, however effective, but to placate deranged Somalis who demand sub-sub-sub clan representation.

Blame Somalis, not the TFG.

Cabinet posts should be allocated to qualified individuals regardless of their clan identity. 90% of Somali politicians only qualify for the Defense portfolio.
