Why do Somalis alone wear the Ninja gear?

Why are Somalis the only westernized & liberalized Muslim demographic that wears that shit?

Why is it that other groups like Pakis, Oromos, and the likes keep their heritage without having to put a marker on themselves.

If someone's pious, fine, but that's almost never the case. If you're gonna live a liberal lifestyle, what's the point of fronting some other look?

From what I can tell the niqaab phenomenon in the West isnt unique to Somali's, in fact in the UK its mostly Pakistani's in the North.With most Somali girls who wear it (not all ) they probably used to have a reputation, and wearing a niqaab is an instant declaration of their transformation, most give it up in a year.
I dont want to see it banned, but I find the rise of the niqaab in the UK very disturbing.

What I noticed from observing the UAE Somali community is that the lower educated/poorer the family of the female is the more they wear a niqaab. Ladies from (upper) middle-class families who usually been born here or lived here for +20 years only wear normal scarfs, while the lower class folks usually straight from Somalia wear the ninja stuff.

I find niqaabs and burkas ridiculous. The idea behind it is noble, but it is so extreme that it causes other problems socially to themselves and others in their environment.

I said if not for religious reasons - and as I f-king said, 90% of Somalis are liberalized - why do they wear the ninja shit or even anything on their heads?

First and foremost, it is not Islamic, it undermines the rationale behind the concept of hijaab because it screams for attention and is not backed by most Hadiths and definitely not the Quran.
But in general, it marginalises Muslim women from mainstream society, it justifies the bizarre notion that women themselves are obscene (isn't it enough to lower your gaze!) and generally only brings problems to the wearer, and other British Muslims.
Dawwa, Its the same in Egypt, laakin most Somali women wear it to not get dark.

I find the idea behind it noble, the idea to distance themselves as much as possible from breaking Allah's rules.

I'm just trying to tell you guys that you can transgress on both sides of the spectrum. Just because not dressing appropriately is breaking a rule, doesn't mean the opposite can only be positive. Islam disapproves of extremism, just obey the rules and don't play around with it.

Besides, I think women should definitely wear a headscarf at least, but a niqaab and burka are undesirable elements in a society.
