Comparing jilbab to balaclavas lol. So we should be told how to dress now is it?
What are you on about? The jilbab does not conceal the face.
Apologies i meant the niqaab. Typed it incorrectly because i was astounded by your 'liberal free thinking views'. On a serious note, who has the authority to tell one how to dress? i understand for security purposes, but then niqaabi cooperate so its not a problem.

Mad May, there are different types of Sunnah...This sunnah is following the example of the Mothers of the Believers (The Prophet pbuh guided them according to the Quran)...They are also an example unto us, the Quran clearly states that they are unlike us...but also leaves the topic of covering the cawra to simply "Cover your bodies". The Propher pbuh outlined the waajib of that ayah, and the Mothers outlined the furthest extent to which it is applicable.

I don’t get it, why are you guys attacking the niqaab? Which IS clearly a sunnah.

I personally feel absolutely proud and delighted when I see a sister walking down the street and wearing the niqaab...its a statement.
Niqaab shouldn’t be discouraged, and in a free land everyone should feel free to wear what they want and find appropriate. I hate it though when some people see the hijab or the niqaab as an obstacle that stops the girl from achieving and becoming professional. That is simply untrue. Calling the symbol of modesty ‘ninja’ or some other degrading terms is just a reflection of pure stupidity.

One should not be afraid to stand out and be different and from experience, this earns you respect.
A niqaab is a choice, and who decides to take it should not be judged, after all you can’t judge a book by its cover. However, its important to clarify that niqaab shouldn’t be used as an isolating bubble, where one shields themselves and completely cuts off contact with their surroundings.

But other than that its completely harmless, in fact beautiful, just accept it as style....I mean I don’t see you guys picking on the emos? don’t get me started

Theyre attacking it because it's a hideous piece of garment designed to depersonify it's inhabitant. And yes, it DOES "stops the girl from achieving and becoming professional". Who would hire someone like that in a law firm?? Would you? Give us a break here.

In the UK Jilbab is popular among Somalis and not niqaab, any concealment of the face should be banned including balaclavas worn by street thugs at night. I would also not define Somalis as liberal.
Here she Comes again with her bullshit. Since when did you become Somali again cause last i checked you were disowned.

People are hired based on the qualification they present and certain other skills the specific profession asks for and not on their LOOKS, otherwise, you’ll be going into the discrimination and what not.

The niqaab doesn’t stop anyone, from becoming whatever they choose to be.

The problem is not the veil worn on the face, its the veiling the brain. Which many people wear invisibly.

Bollocks mate. NO ONE is hiring ninja warriors in ANY professional environment. If you actually believe otherwise, you're delusional.

^ Why are you so obsessed with how Somali women dress? Any topic that's made about Somali women and their dresscode has to have your negativity and disparaging comments.

Are you dense?
what about Somali mothers? Do they have something to hide too?
With most Somali girls who wear it (not all ) they probably used to have a reputation
By girls i mean young girls (late teens +), not older mothers, can you not see what I put in parenthesis?
bring proof don’t just utter every rubbish that comes to your mind for the quote below
I posted the evidence for my arguments, quran and hadith, I even put the important parts in bold, what more do you want?
And no I'm not a scholar, nor are you evidently, so yes I did have to use google, but these are arguments made by many other Muslim's :!:
Safe.

I don’t think we understand each other very well, let me try one last time, if someone says this and that are not part of Islam, they must bring proof, what you quoted was not proof that Islam does not allow Niqab, or proof that Niqaab is not part of the Religion. Remember the religion was sent 1400years ago, it would state if Niqab is not the Islamic culture, it would tell us in the Quran or axaadiis. The quotes you provided does not say anything about whether Niqab is not part of the Islamic culture, do you understand where I’m coming from?

No one's obsessed. This is an open discussion forum, hence my reply. But the simple fact you need to have this reiterated to you over and over displays a distinct lack of intelligence. And my comments are FARRRR from "negative and disparaging". In fact, the opposite is true when you consider the fact that ninja suit is and of itself negative and disparaging. Not to mention dehumanizing.

If Mad May does not want to wear Niqab, more power to her. This topic is about freedom of choice. To each their own.

Personally I believe the Niqab is not necessary, that or any other face covering because of security issues. However if any Somali woman wants to wear jilbaab, it is up to here and doesn't concern either Paidmonk or myself.

They said the same thing about hijab few years ago. Can you say it now? I bet not. Hijabi girls have taken up many professional jobs and are treated equally. Many apparently ‘liberal’ Muslims doubted their success, but have been proven wrong. And what’s depressing is that the muslim people are undermining these girls more than the non-muslims, take turkey for example.

I know niqaabis who have what you’d call professional jobs. There are plently of example. Do your research

Hijaab and ninja suit are two entirely distincitively different garments. NOOO comparison, so don't even try.

I don't believe you. Produce evidence, because evidence backs my claim that no professional firms in ANY capacity (outside of the Middle east) law, finance, etc, hire ninjas.
