wallahi somali wey waasheen they're apostatizing all over the place :o
Horta Alxamdulilaah wallahi. No one on this forum has shown more of an inclination to show what is considered "progressive" behaviour in Western liberal education what with the curiosity I show, the inclination to question that I have, the dialogue I engage in...yacni not taking anything without dissecting and looking deeply at it and throughout my whole time on the issue of religion my faith in Islam has become cemented as a result of it. The more I question Islam, the more truth I find. The more I look at Islam, the more faith gets stronger. If you see a person whose faith in Islam does not get stronger as they progress in their liberal Western education through the educational mechanisms we build for to question and understand, those people were intellectually stunted to begin with. Their understanding of their religion was never that good to begin with and neither is their grasp of the fundamental concepts with which they become armed with in liberal education that good.

It is like a sick person and medicine. Use the medicine completely and you get better. Use it half-way, and not only do stay sick but you also build up an immunity so your illness becomes resistant to the cure.

[.... ok mate islam is based on true scientific and historically foundations not on a belief in the supernatural and the miraculous like christianinty soma ma aha and only enlightened clever theologians like you can understand it.
As always, hiding the intellectual deficiency behind sarcasm.

This has less to do with comparing Christianity and Islam theologically but whether historically, the chronicle of the two religions testifies to their stated reality. History does not testify to Christianity's stated reality which is why more Europeans are non-religious than Christian today; because they study their history and know the Council of Nicea drafting the holy trinity moots the divinity with which it is cloaked with. After all, if this is God's religion why does history lay our fingerprints all over it and as sane, logical, rational, thinking beings how can we justify the holy nature of the religion when it is a product of our own creation? In essence, where is the "God" part in our practice of this religion.

Islam is different. How do we know for example that Muhammed was illiterate and not actually the author of the Qur'an? Well, because we have Persian, Byzantine, Egyptian, etc records who testify to the existence of this illiterate man who neither can read nor write from their own observation and dealings with him. In essence, history justifies the stated reality of the Muslim faith because history reinforces the authenticity and central existence of the "God" part in the religion as a faith not of production by man. What Islam says about history is not theology as in discussing the navigational path of the solar system but what is actually recorded in discourses around the world. History and Islam are mutually inclusive and not exclusive.

That's Christianity you are talking about. Which is why the people who made Christianity that way are majority non-religious today and Islam is the fastest faith in their lands.
you are a full of shit and the funny thing is you fancy yourself as an intellect which is a bit of tragedy because i dont think you know what you're talking.
first of all who questioned existence of the prophet and futhermore who said anthing about the authenticity of the qu'ran.
the question in hand was about what happened to abrah's army. in islam it says the army was wiped out by a flock of birds and whether you belief this or not is a matter of faith. but in reality this is not a historical fact and i challenged you to bring me any historical document that supports this claim, it is just a matter of faith just like every other supernatural phenomenon like the prophet ascending to heaven or jesus walking on water or rasing the died. now all im saying is that if you belief these events to be factual and historical then your reasoning is based on faith and theology and not on reasoning or historical evidence. what is so hard to comprehend about this.

i dont like people on this site that present their views and their interpretations of religion as if it was an absolute truth.
Why believe in something you don't believe is the absolute truth?
because there is no absolute truth.

Then there is Ethiopia the literate--with a written language going back to the fourth century, during Neguz Ezana's reign, with inscriptions of Ge'ez on one side and Greek on the other, appearing on the king's mint. Ezana was, reportedly, the first Ethiopian monarch to convert to Christianity. What African country, or for that matter, what Western European nation can claim a written national language and a national script stretching back to the fourth century A.D? Furthermore, was there a European nation in which Christianity was established a state religion in the middle of the fourth century A.D.? Furthermore, Aksumite Ethiopia had been a colossus world power between the fourth century B.C. and seventh A.D. Among other things, it was Aksumite Ethiopia that humbled and put an end to the mighty power of the empire of the Meroites just north of today’s Khartoum, in about 350 A.D. As well in the sixth century, Aksum extended its tentacles to the Arabian peninsula where Aksum’s governor Abraha ruled Yemen in pomp and splendor. The Aksumites, indeed, went one better and were on the verge of taking Mecca itself when, regrettably, a smallpox epidemic broke out among their ranks and decimated the hordes of Aksumites encamping on the outskirts of the Arabian capital. The Aksumites arrived with a fleet of elephants (the elephant being the tank of warfare in ancient times. Remember Hannibal marching over the Italian Alps with a cavalry of elephants, thereby striking terror in the hearts of the astonished Romans), a military feat that so impressed the Arabs that Muhammad was to dedicate a chapter of the Qur’an called “Ashab al-Fiil,” or the “People of the Elephant,” to underscore the event.
WTF. Pretty sad to see that this clown has decided to make a mockery out of one of the single most greatest historical events in the Qur'an, the battle of Al-fiil. And for what? To pump up poor little Ethiopia that doesnt even feed its people properly? The battle wasn't even during the prophets time, and under his Grandfather Abdul-Mutallib's. They were Arabs then, sure, but semi-Idol worshippers! Amazing how far he went to make Muslims look weak. Besides even if Samatar wanted to make Ethiopia all mightly, there wasn't even a real battle that took place. Abraha said to AbdulMuttalib, that then head of the Qureish that there would be no battle if he just came in to destroy Ka'ba, and then would leave. Thus it was more about doing for show, than annexing the territory. AbulMuttalib refused and Abraha sent Elephants solders which then met heir fate waaay before they even close to Mecca. Smallpox? Really? How far fetched. Anyway, the man is clearly a Big bang theorist, and anyone who agrees with him is a gaal iska doon doon
