Cute Poem- SKIA!

Naa heedhe walaalay magacayga ha'ku ciyaarin...its OLIVEOIL, get it right

abaayo, I have no idea why I am obsessed with Plath especially...I am the apposite of what they were...or maybe its the fact that I had suicidal tendencies at a very young age

But anywho, if I don't talk about them...the only writers in 19th century left to write about, that really mattered, are Poe, LongFellow, Hawthorn, and Emerson...and sadly their works are not as entertaining as Dickenson's and Plaths


But what do u think about my 2nd idea? "Or maybe their feminst side? Parhaps compare the corrupt relationships the 2 had with thier parents and how it influenced their work?"

The feminist track would work very well with Plath, was she the first second-wave feminist poet? was she a feminist at all? Some of her poems on fertility, 'Barren Woman' etc, seem to place the value of women on her ability to procreate, bad feminist!

Cajiib badaana! This poem is bizarre. On the surface, a kind person would say it is about a day in the woods- where the poet, in walking alone and praising nature. but upon close examination-it is about emily's narcissism---proclaiming herself Queen. She is also having a conversation with herself and of course her imaginery friends the Daffodils, the grass, the beess. In short -- a capital bi polar!

Calvary was the site of Christs crucifiction in the Bible, so she's the Queen of Pain, she's taking the piss out of the morbid label people put on her

lool yeah I agree...the inexperienced eye would think its just a poem about her connection with nature, but really this poem seems to be about a spring time and how the speaker is upset about it...she/he seems to be mourning for a loved one who had passed away and maybe how the spring reminds of him/her. She uses so many weird and confusing imagery...both sad and happy ones!

May may--thats actually an astounding analysis/connection. Calvary with pain, Bible connection, emily is definitely feeling pain. Olive u r also right --she is berieving or mourning a death of a beloved-- but i doubt it is about spring, though everything she describes corrolates with spring. Perhaps she is contrasting her mood-- which is bereavement, and the opposite of spring sorroundings. In any case-- the poem definitely shows a mind used to being alone, moody and totally child like--as if she was in her own doll house---writing characters in her mind!

why dont u write the dynamic/friction between Plath and her poet husband Huges? That would be fetching! How jealous he was of her writings. Can i write it for u? It will scandalous!

Well the prof. wants only a 19th century writer and since I am so attached to Plath...I thought of comparing her work to that of Dickenson's...and she said ok, I can do it lol

Yes, I am definetly sure that Plath was a feminist writer...take Lady Lazarus and Daddy as an example..she seems to be refering back and forth to how unfairly she was treated by men...so that could work and I am sure I am going to find a lot of peoms by Dickenson fighting for her femenist side! Will definetly consider it....

i'm completely illiterate poetry wise. i figure cause it makes no sense. no doubt its nothing but nonsensical gibberish which some fools have forcefully convinced themselves makes sense.

what i can comprehend makes sense - e.g. math, in particular number theory
