This is what I'd have done if I were the Ugandan government

Postby Dalton » Mon Jul 12, 2010 8:23 pm

I was in a bar with a fellow student from Uganda the other night, and she was pissed because (a) Holland lost and (b) the news came that Somali Islamists may have been responsible for an attack that left many (unaccounted at the time) dead. She lashed out along the lines of "It isn't exactly fair to get bombs as a gesture of gratitude from one for whom you were doing a favor" and then looked at me and recited what appeared to be retaliation enforcement plan of a sort on what she would have done if she was in a position of power:

1. Take the Ugandan troops out of Mogadishu.

2. Deport every single Somali soul in Uganda back to Somalia.

I nearly said "Please, don't look at me like that - my grandies left there before even my parents were born"; but I instead took the classic line of "you need to sleep", which rather worked to my surprise. What would the impact of these two odd measures be if this young lady ruled Uganda?

So you accept the first measure - do you really believe you can handle the second one as a consequence? What does 'xabashi' mean? Also, do you really condone that cowardice act terrorism in the other night, as you seem to come off, or is that just a false inference from the attitude of your post on my behalf?

Atheist? News travels fast in this village. I don't know if you have reading problems, but she isn't my girlfriend - I assure you though she's painstakingly beautiful so that an incoherent fundie like you would have your measly eyes pain in a wishful gaze, and so smart that you would intellectually be an obtuse midget on her presence.

If you call 'Xabash' the Ethiopians, then may I guess that 'Fufu' is the Ugandans? Assigning negative names to your neighbors is a sign of what psychoanalysts term as 'Inferiority Complex'.

Nope, Jareer is the correct term.

If they took out the Ugandan soldiers, Shabab would rule Somalia and spread like a plague through East Africa. Unless america comes on and robs the whole country again, if there is something to rob that is.

In this world people have existed and preserved their way of life only by creating their own deterrents. What angers the 'world' so much nowadays is that militarily weak people have also found a way of existing and deterring enemies. In response they bring up the question of morality and courage etc. when it becomes convenient. So the US gov't which has yet to apologize for Hiroshima & Nagasaki, is quick to condemn and bring up the issue of morality in this case.

As for your friends solution, it's fair. But what was her view on Ugandan soldiers in Somalia prior to the attack.
