Economy is bad so that's probably why you haven't seen a raise in pay buy the fact that you got a lead position will allow you to get more money later on, and it will build your career.

Congrats man

9-5's ain't bad if you like your job, besides it has some nice benefits that being self employed doesn't
Thanks Shirib.

Bro, the benefits in American corporations, especially medical ones, suck especially when you have a family. You pay more in premium deductions, co-pay, 1st 800 or more deductions, and then the 90/10 or 80/20 out of pocket expense that you have to pay until you reach your maximum out of pocket expense will could be close $5800.00. When you add the premium + other deductions, you are talking about at $12,000 at the end of the year - that is if you and the family go to the phyicians occasionally. That is huge junk of your paycheck. I think the system is designed is too keep average employee poor for the rest of the his/her life and I am afraid that is the majority. I don't blame the Somalis when they blame their game and hid their income so they can get free basic Medical expenses. They would be paying all of this money to healthcare expenses. I think it is time to do something else.

To the topic starter, no, but why accept more responsibilities with the same pay, than again If you don't mind, than why not, at the end of the day it's all about what makes you happy so ma'ah, about the hours, 9-5 is the best especially if you enjoy doing what you do, personally I hate unpredictable hours.
Sista Nabeela, the market is not doing well so I am including that in the calculation.

Never had a promotion. Why dont you ask for a pay rise when circumstances get better. Speak to your manager and remind him that you took more responsibilities for the same pay.

Hate the 9-5, alhamdulilah for a job though. Do my thing and leave, in fact walahi i'm known as the guy the doesnt stay behind a minute later than five lol. Sucks when you work with timo jilac who are willing to stay behind hours just to get extra browny points lol. I work to live and not live to work. Thought about starting a business, brainstorming ideas, doesnt help that I am risk averse though.

You could become your own boss.

Is this your first ever job? Your questions have a whiff student stink in them.
No, it is not my 1st job.

What do you mean by whiff student stink? Have respect if you meant to be rude. This is all abt asking suggestions from my country men and women in SNET. :)
I respect you as a fellow Somali but no matter how hard I try I can't respect students. Glad you are not one. Upwards and onwards, my friend.
