look whats the common between S/L and the south(excluding parts of xamar) today ? they both are ruled by two different rebel movements that share some of their objectives. one is S/L govn the other is Al shabab. they both want to topple down the tfg so its not surprising if tfg officials get arrested in Borama.. when actually al shabab would behead them if they are caught in their territory. once these two rebellious militia/system are taken down the tfg will be free to go anywhere in the country

Here is the difference Somaliland is a working democracy their people elect their leader , on the other hand you have shabaab a terrorist Clan network they do not recognize any of its neighbours nor the broders of the country alshabaab was forced on the people of koonfuria,,,,, while somalilands goverment is the choice of the people Parliament is elected the leaders are elected etc etc

If Referendum was held and independence would to be based on the outcome; it would be an easy breezy victory for Somaliland's case. To simply put is the dominant clan in the "North" if you will with over 75% of Somaliland being Isaaq. Isaaq is not 75% of Somaliland, the percentage has always been 65 - 68%
maybe isaq population growth has been higher than everyone else becuase of stability, so 70% is not that far out...
and assuming that the rest of the 30% will not vote uniformaly against independance i say there will still be a landslide victory in the elections....

In 1961 the referendrum was held throughout somalia and they still cheated and rigged the election even though they had a majority

i.e the Wanlaweyn incident when a small village called wanlaweyn produced more votes than all of toghdeer.

If any referndrum is held today like it is bieng done in the south sudan, for somaliland
there result will be an easy landslide victory for the somaliland party.

The referendum will be in the british somaliland territory only and it will be how the majority votes

When Eritrea was getting independence only Eritrea took part of teh referendum not a gobol with in Eritrea but all of Eritrea
So awdal maroodijeex saaxil togdheer sanaag sool all of them will vote Knowing 75% of sanaag is isaaq and half of sool is isaaq two.

Thinking in the last elections Allot of gadabuursi crossed the border and still 80.000 voted in awdal.

To be honest most gadabuursi in ethiopia (makahil) only care about their standard of life and dont care abotu somaliland and djibouti politics. Vast majority of gadabuursi in Ethiopia dont really care about the affairs of awdal. They have a much better living standard. Barwaaqo beey ku noolyihiin. Awdal waa iska dhagax iyo buuraley, its crappy land compared to barwaaqada samaroon in ethiopia.

Only maxamed case subclan live in awdal dhamaantood.
