Actually midgaan is not their name. It doesn’t show up anywhere in their lineage. It’s rather derogatory name Somalis gave them. Hint, not all “Midgaans” related.

You’re right Yibir and Tumaal are real names. They don’t get offended by it either but Midgaan has no place in their world. It’s like calling some one Cagdheer or IIdoor, Dhabayaco etc. We tolerate it in Kaftan gatherings but we all know they're derogatory names. Midgaan is in the same category

Historically aside, I don't think they really like that name anymore so we should stop using it.

None of my Madhibaan friends like it.

Emp & Rural, there names are neither midgaan nor madhibaan. Midgaan is a derogatory term and madhibaan is used to not offend them. They have clan names just like you and I:
Tumaal
Gabooye
Yibir

As for this topic, why not they do have degaans and they should be treated with the same respect as everybody else, for instance in hargeisa gabooye live in xaafadda daami.
