Who works with western culture?

Postby SultanOrder » Sun Dec 05, 2010 10:24 am

It is so weird working in it, so completely opposite to our culture walle. I've had to learn a whole realm of meaning and expression to finally understand them, take for example:

What yelling constitutes to them.
What asking you to do something constitutes to them.
What telling you to do something constitutes to them.

Yelling to them is them telling you to not do something. If your boss says hey why are you late, I don't want you late anymore, consider having been yelled at. If they say hey can you please go and take care of this, consider it as an order. If they say hey would it be possible if you did this, consider him asking you and you have the option to say no. Anyone else notice this.

I'm the complete opposite when I yell, I raise my voice and show visible signs of anger, if I want you to do something I tell you direct, hey I want you to go do this.. so go... now. If I am asking you I'll be like hey can you do this. My boss likes me because I'm more direct, and I don't take anything to heart if he yells at me. Little does he know that I never consider it yelling, so I always took it easy and would joke with him right afterwards.

caadi maha

Marc contribute ninyo

qoraxeey is that all you could say :|
because I can and sometimes they notice sometimes they don't, I work without supervision so they don't do much to me.

Another thing I learned is that if your boss aint talking to you then your in trouble. Some guy use to come chronically late, the boss would be like hey stop coming late, so many times. So the guy kept coming late, the boss stopped talking when he was there, soon as he left he would be like what a f*** idiot, one more time. He came late one more time, he never showed up again.

They're is no difference, its just they have different expressions. Here if a boss yells at you too badly, then you can sue them for emotional suffering it caused.

I've had to soften my approach, had to add please and thank you. I don't really mind so long as they listen to what I say.

Lool How would I know.. I'm not from Scotland :|
Anyway, I used to live near the Scottish border iyo I've also had alot of Scottish teachers/buddies & from my experience the Scots are pretty much as straight forward as cadaan people can get!

Western work culture is the most superior. Things are expected to be done on time, no questions. It's not the extreme workaholic behavior of Japan, but it isn't the lazy "ill do it whenever" attitude of Africa. Accountability and efficiency, no wonder America has such a high productivity rate.

The only unpleasant thing is the number of "gunners"-the cold and ambitious little bastards who will step on anyone and everyone to get ontop.
