First of all the Ethiopians under Gen Gabre's mandate was to overthrow the ICU, they succeeded in dismantiling them, so yes the Ethiopians succeeded. They were not here to capture anything, only to oversee the TFG's defense measures and combat the ICU.

UNISOM was there to ensure humanitarian aid reaches the millions of Somalis that needed it. They never achieved their goal because of Gen Aideed and his clan factions, they were not their to combat anyone at first, they only attack when provoked.

AMISOM, will soon be given a clear mandate to push and hold Xamar neighbourhoods under the new and refurbished TFG armaments, they will contiue to push until they capture all of Xamar. Additional troops are indeed needed to capture the other half of Xamar and we will succeed indeed.
