As a guy, when you're pissed off and the person you're pissed off at "warns you", how do you react? It just fuels you more doesn't it, stepping down becomes a sign of weakness, it's like you are somehow admitting that you're scared of what they might do to you. Now imagine forcing your dad into such a position. I have brothers and I know that even when the little one is going to get his face smashed in he won't step down, it's something brothers do but a father is on a different league no? Brothers fight for supremacy lakin the father is already the head of the house and by forcing him to step down or warning him is like questioning his position in the household really.
