Search and raid operations came in response to overnight grenade attacks on several Somalia’s security positions in a TFG run district of Wabari in southern Mogadishu.

A witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, told All Headline News that after wrapping up raids about 11:00 am local time that more policemen, accompanied by military vehicles, have flooded several neighborhoods of Mogadishu’s Wabari area.

He stated that they were searching almost every house in the district and have taken a number of young Mogadishu people, mostly young men, into custody in connection with insurgent activities.

All business, commerce and vehicle traffic were put on hold during the search operations, according local residents.

On Saturday night, gunmen attacked several police stations in Mogadishu, it is still unknown if there were police casualties.

All Headline News made contact with Somali government police officers concerning the issue but all have declined comment at this time.

In November, the transitional federal government of Somalia arrested more than 75 people linked to the Al Shabaab militant group following days of rampant violence and insurgency in parts of government-controlled areas of Mogadishu.
