That's the doing of the Mubarak's secret police. No logical person would do something as pointless as destroying old statues.

Who's "we"? None of my people took part in any looting and destruction. Obviously mubarak wants to sabotage the peaceful demonstations and ruin their image to make it look like it's just looting.

Oxi

its easy for u to say that dear-- u have a job and live in a western luxurious society. To u this ancient artifact is a leisure historical value---to the egyptian its a piece of trash. they dont have the basics.

Its amazing how the western think walle---yesterday i was watching CNN and they were showing a story in india where the jaguar animal was getting extinct because they were being killed as the locals cattle were eaten by these jaguars. The white people began to come in and make a deal with the locals. The white people set up a program,Any cattle killed by the jagual--they need to come claim for damages. They also educated the locals by saying by saving the jaguars--they are literary saving themselves. They set up schools for the local children and done all these 'helpful' programs. My question is---why didnt the white people think of this education and helpful programs before the jaguar killings? Are these jaguars more important than the human population locals? And is human--the white people---always inspired from personal interest rather than altruistic interest? To the white people--these jaguars serve a personal interest purpose. It is they perceived sense of idealistic 'preservation'. Like Oxi and co---this leisure, luxury worry of historical interest and animal extinct worries is ostensibly important to them. Pathetic.

The secret police are dressing up as civilians to create conflict so the protesters have a bad image, plus prisoners have escaped from jail

that is why there are lootings and other thing

Egyptians are not like Somalis. They have a pride for their country's history while Somalis do not and will never have that.

Your cynical pessimism is annoying. Even James Dahl makes more realistic posts about Somalia's future. Dhaqan celis aad u baahantahay, maybe it will knock some sense into you.

How is it annoying? If you pay attention to James Dahl a bit more closely, he says the exact same thing.

Just look at his maps, thats all you really need to know!

It's annoying because you make it seem as though Somalia didn't exist before 1960. We are people who have existed for just as long as the ancient Egyptians so I don't see where this lack of respect for your own history comes from. We didn't have the same form of governance as you do now in America; a foreign system of government was imposed on a people that did not want nor ask for a democracy. All which happened was inevitable. Moreover if you look back at the history of every modern country you will find an age of lawlessness and internal conflict. In Somalia most of that is actually only limited to Mogadishu and even then it's only been 20 years of relatively low levels of conflict, compared to say the American civil war. We've also had many attempts at reconciliation, granted they have been unsuccessful because of selfish individualistic reasons, nevertheless the will is there in the people, and for you to belittle the attempts, the desire and the hope of the people, our people, is, put very very mildly, annoying.

I love Egypt since I grew up there but you are annoying, ader do get to know your history more and feel proud about it.

Oh, never mind, i forgot your are an American

PS: My favorite motto, if Egypt is the mother of the world, then Somalia is her father
