So the Muslim brotherhood is probably the most successful Islamist movement based on the transnational reach and legitimization of their ideology within Muslim societies isn't it? From Hamaas, to Al Iitihad Al Islami of Somalia, to Hizb u Tahriir, Jamaa Islamiya, including the movements all the way to the Phillipines and Indonesia, the Muslim brotherhood is basically the Godfather of modern Sunni Islamism isn't it? I have always wondered why Al Iithad hated Saudi Arabia and why Bin Laden did (himself a disciple of the Muslim Brotherhood of which his second in command Ayman was a member of the group)...this is because the true Salafi movements have been led by the Muslim Brotherhood which considers the Saudi state, even though Salafi, an enemy. The Muslim Brotherhood is pretty much the Godfather Sunni political Islam today
Even going to weekend dugsi here in America, I remember we used to be taught to recite this "Allahu qaayatuna, wal rasulu qudwatauna, wal qur'anu tasturuna, wal jihaadu sabiilunaa wal mawtu fii sabiililaah asmaa amaaneenaa.. tasbiih SUBHANALUAH, Tahmiid WAL HAMDULILAAH, tahliil LAA ILAHA ILA LAAH, takbiir ALLAHU AKBAR. Basically this was the Islamic Brotherhood or Akhwaanul Muslimiin national anthem exactly drafted during the founding of the movement in Egypt
