Tribute to Africa & African - By Cirwaaq

Postby qoraxeey » Fri Feb 04, 2011 4:27 pm

I am sorry how can one respect the term black when it has been hijacked to mean or represent West africanism and west african Phenotype. Africa as a continent has the most diverse phenotypes on any continent on earth yet the globaly accepted black image is that of west africans.

Aren't these black too?

Bushman and not mixed race, they have lighter skin colour then other africans

Fulani not mixed race, even west africans don;t all look like the stereotypical phenotype asociated with being black

What is black is defined by the white man and certain africans have claimed sole ownership of the title. Rather then ask why some africans distance themselves from the title "black" ask yourself what has given some africans the attitude to isolate themselves and accept a title created for them during the slave trade. Those that did not fit into the stereotype created for the slave trade do not asociated themselves with slavery nor the term black... We have no idea if only a set phenotype of africans were selected for the slave trade.

It is wiser to disolve the terms of asociation with slavery then to force others to find ways to belong to a set title that was never set for them. I am satisfied with being considered African any other title i have zero asociation with it. As for "Black" being converted to represent all of africa that is ignorant. If any colour represents the african people it would be the coulour of the rainbow.

All my applications are filled with Other-African. :D mac :rose:

It's usually women who run from their African roots by bleaching their skin or wear wigs, to cover their jareer hair.

No natural hair can withstand the constant styling that celebrities endure, you will lose your hair. Almost all celebs wear weave, white or black. Hair or no hair, Beyonce has a beautiful face and body. But everyone looks good with their own hair instead of cheap barbie hair.
