Garowe: Main Street Images

Post by waryaa »

I took over 2000 images (the good, the bad and the ugly) from June 27 to July 2nd and uploaded the first 50 shots.

Call it the bibito (small restaurant) capital of Somalia. 99% of the main street is covered by one-story buildings filled with small retail businesses. This town, the capital of Puntland makes Bosaso look like a one giant fat elephant.

note: The last two images (if you reach there) are actually inside the fake Ethiopian border just outside of Garowe. My 4runner does wonders. It crossed the disputed border :)

The only thing I didn't like about this trip was that fake amxaro border  Somalis need to wake up...

Garowe, my Somalia hometown from November, is the MOST diaspora friendly place in Puntland.

I don't think his window is dusty, probably the town is dusty seeing that its a desert. The rooftops are all dusty. When was the last time it rained there? :|
