Alcha

qabil is a human bonding mechanism. Just like the police-- consider themselves - 'the blue brothers"! Human need bonding, they need a reason to be interested and support u, and in the process support their behind. Ultimately, humans are looking out for themselves. We are programmed like that.

Basra i totally agree with you :| There are so many examples where this was proven through out history especially somali history..

Qabil is overall a covering, protection of sort for a group of people but when you get down to it, is nothing more than a myth. The group then starts to further divide itself all the way to the individual..

The debacles in Somalia civil war. Baare regime puppetieered the Mjs in the name of darood-niimo, to turn on other daroods and hawiyes and isaaq. Then, mjs discovered baares double face, so they teamed up with the hawiyes to over throw baare. Mjs calculated that--they will use the hawiyes for soldier bililiqo man power, only that they over calculated as the hawiyes are savages--like the talibans. Gorilla war is their best defence. The hawiyes ever loyal, discovered mjs are more disastrous than baares regime and the marehaans-- so they slaughtered them.

The dhulbahantes claimed they were part of isaaq for years, even though they hated each other secretly. The war errupted and boom, they got greedy and thought they had a chance on somaliland. boy they were wrong. Then the hawiyes turned on each other---sacaad vs eyr--- or abgaal. Mjs vs other interior mjs or other daroods. At the end of the day- the buck stops at what does a certain greedy qabil want? They are willing to slaughter their reer abtiis and their mothers for a momentary glorious dream of gaining something. A land, a cattle or a port.

Supporting you're tribe or clan is fine but like anything else you can't use it to destroy. I always wondered Why the Somalis feel the need to xiin and xaasid each other? They are their own worst enemy.

They don't suffer from problems other African nations face which are scarce resources, land and usually due to a large population. We are only 8 million (without counting the diaspora) have a enough land and resources plus a good religion. We should be more civilised but we are not? WHY?

There is so much for all but we still continue to xin and xaasid.

And the worst part is they love living with all sorts of other nationalities when they are abroad and boast about what they achieved with their help? But they refuse to help each other progress???? strange :(

The diaspora can influence the present thus the future by not accepting xaasid and xin but asking for real changes that respect their values. If the educated start showing that they are civilised and are not scared or disloyal or distrustful then the rest will notice.

What ever our elders are doing needs us to show them the middle way or agreeable way to reach their goals without resorting to their base emotions. Pride, Jealousy, anger and fear should all controlled.

All that we need to realise is that it is not that bad and no need to exaggerate every emotion.
