First of your region has failed to implement this federalism with succes. Your adminstration in Garowe claims borders far beyond what it controlls today. It is ridden with sub clan tribal conflict, pirates, high level assasinations and a very hostile atmosphere for independet journalists.Absolutely federalism. Its clear that's what Somalis want. The only people against federalism are the ones whose home communities and diaspora are failing to create viable working states in their regions. Others are totally pro-federalism and have been able to mobilize both politically, economically, and security-wise, like PL, Galmudug, Azania, Hiiraan State and Ximan/Xeeb. This is the way forward. Maamul goboleeds are popping up left and right because everyone has realized its the future. The truth is in front of our eyes.
I think Puntland is a bad example of federalism, but a good example of organized crime flourishing without reppercussions from a central goverment.

More along the lines The Swiss model. Somalia should be decentralized but not so extremely decentralized where states are independent countries.FAH, tell us your opinions of the topic

Thanks for your input greendaySomething like Britainbut not by qabiil it should be regions otherwise we would end up with 100 states.
States should benefit from the different resource industries but the federal government has to have revenues from them too.More along the lines The Swiss model. England has the population necessary in order to divide themselves of into 50+ regions. Even if with some magic stick, 80% of the Somali diaspora returns to Somalia within a decade after restoring a strong and stable federal government, you're looking at about 11-12 million Somalis in a big country. You only need one representative for every 100 - 250 thousands people, and each states/region would need a balanced amount of people in order to be heard.Something like Britainbut not by qabiil it should be regions otherwise we would end up with 100 states.

A good recipie for a balkanised countryFAH's vision of the Swiss model is too soft. Its like prescribing aspirin for a virus. Somalia needs a revamping, a system that allows Somalis to try things entirely differently from the past 20 years. Firstly, there's no central government, so we'd have to wait for that to even begin what FAH views as the future. Its best to start the state-based Fed system right now so the states can develop and put together a joint Fed gov't - no one is going to throw away any progress into the arms of Sheikh Hotel.
People need to firmly realize what Somali society is composed of; clan systems. This is not Japan nor Angola, we live within a system of clan loyalties. Its time to build a platform that suits the clans and not the League of Nations, we've spent too much time trying to please a system designed by outsiders.

That's what eradicated Al-Andulus, 800 years of Muslim presence was completely wiped out. That's the direction the likes of Paidmonk want to drive Somalia and the Somali people to.If we want to balkanize the whole country, then lets do it.

All these are qabiils states, we need to mix people e.g add three gobolo to make a state, this will wipe out my qabiil owns this mentality. Thanks for your input greendaySomething like Britainbut not by qabiil it should be regions otherwise we would end up with 100 states.
by saying regions do you mean states like galmudug, ximan and xeeb, PL etc or you had something else in mind?

Britian is made of only three states much more less than 18England has the population necessary in order to divide themselves of into 50+ regions. We should not further divides the regions we already have, e.g. Sanaag, Bari, etc. They should each have their own regional government which in turn co-operates with federal government. As it stands, Somalia has 18 gobol, a little too many, let add up 2 or 3 smalls ones to form a state and make it happen that way![]()
