Greenday I think it's beautiful because to me it seems to be saying something. Every colour has a reason for being there; the green is prosperity, the white is peace, the red is the sacrifice, the black star is the African heritage (that might be arguable since people over there think themselves Arab ) and the Shahada is the icing on the cake.

The Somali flag is of course my own flag and it is special because of that but when I look at it and what it means it is hopeful and yet so very sad because it seems to mourning what was taken from it. The 5 sided star is supposed to represent the 5 seperated lands...there is no celebration, only a vow to have a reunification if you are optimistic about Somaliweyn or a reminder of what once was and never will be again if you are pessimistic. I guess for the inbetween who see a white star in a blue background it might mean something else.


Perhaps my outlook on flags is too strongly influenced by the Kenyan system..

From my fadhi kudirir days and the new comer trolls vomiting all over the forum. The foul mouthed one is not only Darood but has a Hawiye phobia, the other one was actually voted favourite Puntlander, then there is the Mareexaan one, the cheerleaders are also Darood.
