Voluntary Somali medics set off to Mogadishu from the USA

Postby Coeus » Fri Aug 26, 2011 6:42 am

Somali medics from United States of America have voluntarily set off to help their ailing brothers and sisters back in Somalia.

This is the first time ever for Somali medics with common vision from the world to set off to Somalia to help their own brothers.

This move was highly coordinated by a Somali organization called Somcare.

Somcare is a Somali organization which seriously stands for the help of the Somali people especially when it comes to medical issues.

The headquarters of Somcare is at Minneapolis in the United States of America.

“I have informed my fellow countrymen about the situation of our brothers and sister back in Somalia, and they have willingly accepted to contribute by treating the ailing ones, this is a significant step carryout out by courageous Somali medics, and I hope other Somalis with different professions will do the same for their people” said chairman of Somcare Hon: AbdiAziz Musse Mahay.

Most of these medics work in famous medical centers in various States in America, and have obtained higher medical degrees in various American medical colleges.

“These doctors and nurses will be in two teams the first team will be serving the Somali people for a period of a months and will replaced by the second team, they will be voluntarily serving the patients at Banadir hospital in Mogadishu” added Mahay.

This will be a paradigm for the other Somalis with the different skills to come for the assistance of their own people.

Mogadishu has been lately experiencing influx of internal displaced people from the other region of Somalia, because of a prolong drought which has claimed the lives of their livestock.
