Zingii, I couldn't agree with you more. While, Siyaad Barre was making Mengistu beg for his life, and calling help from Russia, cuba and 15 other Nations, the leaders of the Dhabayaco, C/Yusuf was sitting on Mengistu's lap, along with Caydiid, Tuur, Cumar Jess and so forth.

good points, but I would say the best period of the government was up to the 1977 war. Even though in this period it was still an authoratarian rule: wadaads killed; senior officials murdered (generals gabeyre, caynaanshe and colonel dheel); arresting opposition.
Eonomically we were booming but the ogaden war crushed us financially mentally and started the decline of the republic: with nepotism; corruption; brutal murders and daily arrests.
I believe that the senior members of the government should have stepped down after the war and allowed free voting for a new government.
