The Somali NAME system is perfect as it and it is the way of Our beloved Prophet S.C.W.S. and his companions as well as the wasy of all of Allah's prophets peace be upon them all. For example our beloved Prophet''s name is MUXAMMAD IBN CABDILLAAHI BIN MUDHLIB (WA SALWAATULLAAHI CALEYH) and his cousin and companion and the last of the khulafa-u-raashidiin was ALI IBN ABI TAALIB BIN MUDHALIB.

The Arabs have changed this system in the last 2 centuries and have gone astry from the way of the prophets and the sahaba of the PROPHET S.C.W.S. it does NOT NOT mean that we should follow their example instead of the one set by THE HOLY PROPHET S.C.W.S. AND THEN BY HIS COMPANIONS MAY ALLAH BE PLEASED WITH THEM ALL.

We Somali also have kunya names in the same way that the sahaba, the Taabiciyiin and the Culamma after them had. Moreoften the kunya names are used interchangeably e.g. Abdul Rahmân bin Sahr is famously know by his kunya name Abu HURAIRAH, Muhammad Ibn Ismail Ibn Ibrahim is famously known as AL BUKHARI
and to give an example amongst the present day Somalis Mohammed Ibrahim Warsame is also known famously by his kunya name HADRAWI. There are COUNTLESS examples of this can be found amongst the somali of today in every walk of life and in every region, as well as in the past as far back as the advent of the QUR'AN.

This system has worked for Somalis for centuries and is still perfectly working for them whereever they maybe.

Sadly some SOMALIS do not see and/or realise this fact because the Somalis of today have become imitators and only mimic others and for them to mimic sombody is the ultimate achievment.
