Just got an email today. Any aussie somalis snetters interested? 1Man or Twist?

The first series aired in June this year to wide acclaim, and SBS's best ratings for the year. The series has been nominated for several awards, already winning a UN Media Peace award.

This time round we are looking for a Somali family or Somali individuals who have been grated refugee protection in Australia in the last 0-10 years (ideally for us the more recent the better). It may be that some members of the household have been in Australia for many years, but one member (such as a wife/husband/aunt) may have arrived in the past 10 years. At least one person in the group would ideally be able to speak reasonable (broken) English.

Our plan is for three Australians to stay with a family for three days in February 2012. If there is no room in the house the three Australians could stay nearby.

The Somalis here in Australia must also ideally have relatives overseas who we can visit an film with. For example in a refugee camp in Ethiopia or Kenya. (Separately we are also looking for Afghan and Karen Burmese refugees for the program).


I've attached a flyer that explains the program briefly. Feel free to email this around. It would be really helpful if I could speak directly to any of your case-workers who have contact with Somali Australians.

how can you not watch it? miss it? everyone was talking about it, it was an actual major event here like it started a real immigration discussion around the country in a positive way

I didnt watch it cos family ruined it for me they just had to narrate everything that happened on the show.

If I was a guy I would properly do it hada no way last time I did any sort of public event was back in primary school and grandad flipped out.

I had an old TV in the last couple of years that I switched on may be once or twice and I threw it outside this last October for the hard- rubbish collection. Was thinking to buy 40+ inch LCD in the last few months but can't be bothered 'cause I wont use it anyway.
