is there oil in somalia apart from puntland?

Postby sahal80 » Mon Jan 16, 2012 10:18 pm

Puntlands oil have cheared them up. I heard that kismaayo has also oil.
Is there oil in the south apart from kismaayo? What about somaliland?
At the end of the day in this way all somalis will benefit after we have had to suffer for years and now stepping away from war onto the most productive days. I thought that was really sweet.

I don't know why but this made me laugh.

But, to your question; there is definitely huge quantities of offshore oil in Mudug, Waqoyi Galbeed, and Jubbada Hoose though I'm not sure if they have large quantities onshore.

What a dirty, filthy thing to say. Stop begging and whinning, Puntland will share no one with it's oil.

If you don't have the brains nor power to do similar thing for your people, how far do you think force and intimidation will get you?

Viva Puntland and all the envies, hateful, brain-dead imbeciles can go to hell

There were oil field maps made by American oil companies during the MSB era that showed oil fields in central Somalia, Afgooye, Bakool, and offshore sites between Marka & Kismaayo. It was never about oil being in Somalia, it was always about other issues e.g. drilling rights, infrastructure & political stability. We grew up hearing this shit for years. It's there, just needs to be drilled & hopefully in an equitable way that profits the locals rather than a few crooks or clans.

Yeah. My grandfather AUN was part of some teams that went all over the country in the 1960s exploring for oil.

Fah - MSB chased out those companies in the 70s. It wasn't just oil they were exploring for, but also minerals, gems, etc. That's how they came up with reports of presnce of uranium and ore in central Somalia. Even in Diinsoor which is where my parents are from, there used to be stories of these companies digging around for gems, specially on the river banks. Gold nuggets, perhaps? It was never made clear. It was all hush-hush and eventually they were all expelled just as the Ethiopia-Somalia war was starting. All American companies were expelled.

Sahal - I can only think of geopolitics as being the reason. Along with instability.
