What a joke. I don't remember seeing a drilling rig in Somaliland, actually fuck that I don't remember hearing a single surveyor wasting his time there.

Only three wells have been drilled in the original Berbera Block, two of which were located offshore in block M10, where they encountered minor oil shows. The third well, the only onshore well in the block, was a 243m deep stratigraphic well. Three wells, drilled adjacent to the western edge of block 35 (Dagah Shabel 1-2-3) over the period from November 1958 to November 1959, all encountered good oil shows. The M10A/35 PSA, located in northern Somaliland, is predominantly onshore but also extends offshore into the Gulf of Aden. The block encompasses an area of 16,270km2 with a water depth of approximately 0 to 1,000m

WTF 1959? :?

Anyway, back to topic:

Faroole is in Dubai collecting money from the Arabs in exchange for future tradeoffs. He's doing what the Arabs themselves used to do; when they'd spring a well they'd go to Europe and collect money to build their infrastructure and institutions with promises that the Europeans would get their cash back.

In fact, the entire rig ceremony was likely a publicity stunt, it could've been done secretly as was speculated earlier, but the PL admin wanted to exploit the opportunity and use the exploration progress as a bargaining chip to get upfront money from foreign investors. Whether or not this well produces huge quantities in the long-term, PL will see in the range of $100+ million in investment and development this year, mark my words.
