Garboharey is indeed very green and beautiful, breath taking landscape in the first picture.
Allah has indeed bestowed natural beauty and resources in this land. Unfortunately the people who inhabit it have made little to no use of it. Preferring instead to kill and attack eachother like savages. That makes it ever the more sad and dissapointing indeed. Aqoonla'aan waa iftiin la'aan :!:
No my friend this is simply your ignorance showing, people in Gedo do not fight amongst themselves or create one city, 1/2 city administrations like what is happening in Hawiyo land.

The destructions comes from the the 3 large wars that has taken place in Gedo since the collapse of the Kacaan, first the USC invasion, second the (SNF/Al-Itixad)-Ethiopia war instigated by Al-Itixad, and now Al-Shabab. what all these groups have in common is they are either foreign entities themselves or have caused foreign entities to invade the region, in the case of Al-itixad, they waged war against Ethiopia whiles having Gedo as a base. In addition to these 3 main wars, Gedo is economically connected to Kismaayo and Mogadisho, both cities have faced severe consecutive wars with only a few years of peace in between in the case of Kismaayo. considering all these facts Gedo has maintained a decent growth rate, a good example would be Beledxaawo.

compare this to SL which enjoys national road build by the Kacaan, Berbera port build by the Kacaan, schools, government institution build by the Kacaan, the savage even looted and occupied Villa Morgan turning it into a presidential palace for so long, one can imagine what else was done to private property belonging to non-isaaq in Hargaysa, it was either destroyed or stolen. Peace is indeed valuable and Gedo along with the rest of Jubaland will get it inshallah very soon, but what has Somaliland done with it's peace, Berbera which is a port city has barely developed. Berbera is a testament to Somaliland's lack of achievement, give that kind of opportunity to others and the difference would be immense, case in point Bosaso.

Gedo ha ku mashquulin saxib, dantaada garo.

Garbahaarey is one of the most blessed towns in Somalia in terms of beauty and scenery but it makes me sad to say rather than one single structure being added to the town in 20 years, all it has seen is destruction. From the USC-SNF wars to SNF-Al Itihad to Ethiopia-Al Itihad and Ethiopia-SNF and even in inter SNF Garbahareey as the regional capital was one of the most fought over.

Long before ICU and Al Shabab wars bringing foreign troops

an article from 1996
Ethiopian Army Attacks 3 Towns in Border Region of Somalia
By JAMES C. McKINLEY Jr.
Published: Saturday, August 10, 1996

Ethiopian troops, tanks and helicopter gunships have crossed the border into western Somalia and attacked three towns, killing scores of people, a Somali Muslim fundamentalist faction charged today. Workers for a Kenya-based Western relief organization confirmed the attack.

High-ranking officials of a Somali group called the Union of Islam said two battalions of Ethiopian troops with tanks and helicopter gunships had seized the Gedo region of southwestern Somalia in fighting on Thursday night and this morning.

The group said that the troops, tanks and helicopter gunships had swept through the towns of Dolo, Beled-Hawo and Lugh, and that the fighting was continuing.

http://www.nytimes.com/1996/08/10/world ... malia.html
an article from 2002
Briefing correspondents on the latest developments in Somalia, he said that in the last few weeks Ethiopian troops had continued to invade two major regions in south-western Somalia: Gedo and Bakool, capturing the capital of the Gedo region, Garbahaarrey, and a vibrant commercial centre near the Kenyan border -- Bulla Hawa. Formal written communications had been sent from the Foreign Minister of Somalia to the Secretary-General, the Security Council and its Sanctions Committee, expressing concern over the deteriorating situation in the country.

The invasion has caused many innocent civilian deaths and displacement of thousands of people, he continued. As a result of the fighting, Bulla Hawa had been burning yesterday. In Garbahaarrey, the Ethiopian troops had captured the leadership of the region, whose fate remained unknown. Ethiopian troops were also poised to attack the southern port city of Kismaayo.

But Garbahareey will rise again and resume its historical name in Somalia.

:? Regardless of the excuses, Ghetto, whether controlled by Godane or Kenya, is still a shithole. Gaajoxaareey etc. are still shitholes :| The people are still savages and bahave in an animalistic manner. The region is still grossely underdeveloped and chronically mismanaged (to be generous). That video of Ghettoan men raping their own women by the barrel of the gun comes to mind, very shocking but it portrays the mentality of the people there. Animals.

Road built by the chinese. Port built by Russians/Americans. We use our god given brain and make use of it. In Hargeisa there is rule of law which you might not know what that is having grown up in Ghetto and Utaanga, but everyone has reclaimed their property. Some obviously would not have aqcuired that property were it not for booli qaran. Berbera is thriving and it has has more new roads built than your Ghetto has ever seen, Property contruction and the private sector is booming. Children dont engage in war but go to something called school ( :o ). Hargeisa is completely rebuilt, booming and larger than Boosaaso, Kismaayo, Gallkacyo, Caabudwaaq, Garowe, Qardho and all your other little villages combined lol. Of course then there are other cities Boorama, Burco, Gabiley, Oodweeyne, Erigavo, Las Anod, Ainaba etc. SL is not restricted to a shitty little village like Gaajoxaarey

I don't know why this kid is bringing Somaliland into the picture. When God made the earth, Somaliland was made from the leftovers refused by the rest of the world. I have seen Hargeisa, I don't blame why all these Somaliland kids and their parents continue to live in the West despite the fact they had a peaceful state for 20 years. If someone paid me a million dollars, I wouldn't live in that dry parched piece of desert I couldn't find a shade if I walked for a hundred years. The whole town is big slum, dust coats the city like a cloud, it's hot, sweaty, the buildings look like something from a mad max movies and not to mention 95% of the populace are spaced out on a drug 24/7. Forget about Berbera which I am told is actually situated in hell and Burco which is an more unfortunate version of Hargeisa.

Every dog has its day. Yesterday we had peace, today you have peace, and tomorrow we will. The thing is we have the land with vegetation, where it rains, where fruits are in abundance, where there are rivers and you could relax and live comfortably, that is surrounded by centralized trade and commerce, and is in the heart of the most important parts of the Somali country. Continue to savoring this moment, because it promises to be the highlight of your entire existence on earth.

Then move to Gaajoxaareey, just forget about Hargeisa and SL... oh wait, you can't. it has been in war, chaos and chronic underdevelopment for 21 years

My relatives in Hargeisa and Las Anod employ Ghettoan xamaals and cleaners, they have been training the animals to behave more civilised
