Union to answer your question I'll give you a brief biography of a relavant Salafi Imam who lived in the 7th century and was a good frienf of Abu Hanifa.
During that time the Abbasites ruled the muslim world, many scholars were being executed by the Amir if they did not badmouth the Ummayad Dynasty, the political rival family of the Abbasites.
When the great Imam was called to the Amir's court and asked about his opinon on the Ummayads Imam Auzaee told him the truth. He said "Ya amirul mu'mineen (Oh leader of the faithful) [recognizing his great status although he was tyrannical] he continued to defend the Ummayad whilst being beaten up. After that the Amir admired his bravery and allowed him to be free.
We can learn in thsi story that no one fought this Amir even though he killed many scholars. this is not an excuse to fight muslims, also imam auzaee stil lrecognized him as amir.
