Is Ducaale fit for presidency? He comes off as an idealist, Farmaajo-type leader who would do well in a post-civil war type of environment where political and security institutions have a strong foundation. I oppose his presidency simply because he has not been on the ground and does not know the current reality of shacabka Jubbaland. He has no military experience therefore he will not garner respect from the current soldiers on the ground. I think we need a leader that is familiar with the current reality and is well known to shacabka during this transitional period. Jubbaland requires a leader who struggled with the people through thick and thin and not a man with a well-tailored suit straight from the diaspora.

Let's face it, it is not fair for the people back home to have a state government engineered in Denmark or Sweden imposed on them without their say. Despite the diaspora's overwhelming support, I think that someone like Col. Abbas or gen. dhuumaal should be given leadership until an elderly council comprised of clan representitives pick an educated relative from the diaspora to help install a competent admin.

Ducaale would be a good president after these institutions are put well into place otherwise we need realistic solutions.
