Salaf Jadiids are sworn enemies of Al-Shabaab and allies of Al-Ictisaam. At least, the ones that I saw were talking about the excessive acts committed by Al-Shabaab in 2008/2009. Actually, one of the main Salaf Al-Jadiid Sheekh in my city used to tell people about the hasty and cruel activities of Al-Shabaab, and I remember people ridiculing him and calling him names. We have recently met him in one of the local Somali barber shop, and I told him many of the things he said about Al-Shabaab have been confirmed. He has responded and stated, "there are many others that you are no aware of." I have not met the Sheekh again to ask him the list of the other activities that he is aware of. I will surely do and ask him again if I see him insha-Allah.
Another thing that the Sheekh mentioned was his group is a big supporter of the so-called "Free Syrian Army." He has mentioned one of the mosques in Minneapolis that collected $700,000.00 USD for the rebels who are fighting in Syria against the Syrian government. When we challenged him and asked him, "how can people go to jail when they collected and sent $8,000.00 dollars to Al-Shabaab, but when $700,000.00 dollars are collected for the Free Sysrian Army, no one goes to jail?" the Sheekh failed to respond to that question. That was clear proof that this is a front group for the mukhabaraat of both the Saudi and the 'powers that be'.
Truth to be told, there are many fake groups nowadays, and people should know them.
