Post Alshabab Administration Era in South/Southwest Somalia

Postby barbarossa » Wed May 23, 2012 3:06 am

As I pen this, reports are current that the long awaited, much anticipated major assault on Alshabab control regions in Southern Somalia, on the part of the tgf and African Union forces, is underway in earnest. With in the next few weeks, I predict a large swath of terretories in these regions would be librated from the evil forces of Alshabab and their terrorist allies, as it is unlikely, that they would be put up much of a fight, considering their cowardly aversion to find themselves engaged in conventional warfare. Most of their defeated forces will fall in total dissarray, and disperse through out the country side, and many will make an attempt to return back to whatever community they hailed from, but some of the top lieutenants and their die hard supporters will be left with no choice but to carry on the fight by resorting to one of their favorite modus operandi, viz. suicide and IED attacks on mainly soft civilian targets. No matter, Alshabab days in these regions are all but numbered and they shall be soon be distant memories.

Now, I am just wondering, what contengency plan, if any, has the tgf in place to ensure that there are no power vacuum in these liberated towns and villages, and the territorial gains they make is not squandred to some warlord type strong man. The last thing we need is countless feifdoms and artificial state regions sprung about every where like a wild flower with little or no rule of law.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Al shabab are still in control! I don't see them losing ground in the days to come either.

Kenyans themselves have lost hope as Kismayo seems ever more elusive.

What do you predict?
Yes, I foresee that soon, very soon, Alshabab thugs will be dislodged from Southern Somalia as they are squeezed from all sides by tgf, Afracan Union and other loyal local and regional forces.

Regardless fellow, your beloved Alshabab, the Butchers of Somalia, shall soon turn tail, and make a hasty run of it, to save their rear ends.

TFG would prefer to be given an extension post Aug2012. However Hillery Clinton has stated without ambiguity there shall be no further extensions of TFG post Aug2012.

Will there be a power vacuum?
How instrumental were the TFG in all the gains against Shabab?
Can Am-i-Som retain current gains when the Adminsteration changes?
Will the somali troops continue to accept 1/10 the salary of the AU troops? More importantly who are they loyal to?

For all intents and purposes End of TFG does not have to mean a complete overhaul and return to foundation. In an ideal scenario Transitional Government would have completed their assigned mandate and fascilitated the environment required to hold elections and thus end the Transitional period. This is not the case and even when you end the TFG whatever you replace it with is still a provisional government(temperary).

TFG/provisional will only be replaced when an elected government takes office. It is not going to happen in Aug2012 and therefore TFG/provisional government will continue past Aug2012 regardless of what ever you call the Reshuffle that is going to occur in Aug2012.

Keep dreaming Mister. Its taking 5 countries+ US intelligence + TFG forces this long to get 'rid' of 3000 men!! Its time for dialogue with Alshabab, they have as much right to Somalia as the TFG and their supporters.

Why do you seem to support Al Shabab while your living comfortable in a foreign country our people back home are being killed and oppressed by these so called Jihadist to the point they don't want to leave their homes, not to mention they are ruining the country even more. I don't understand why people who do not live in Somalia themselves and see what is happening there themselves support Al Shabab it's easy to support them when your not the one they are oppressing.

I'm against the foreign invasion really, I think dialogue is the way to go. Believe you me, the foreign troops are committing more crimes against humanity than what Alshabab have allegedly committed.

I know the foriegn troops committed more crimes and rape our women and infect them with H.I.V but them and Al Shabab are just as bad as each other that is why we only want them to help us kick Al Shabab out and then leave and never step foot in Somali soil again. Futhermore that is why we should recruit the Somali National Army so the country can have SOMALI people protecting it and not habashi's and jareers that are only in it for their interest. And if Al Shabab actually cared about the Somali people they would give up because coz then that means, that these disgusting foreign troops are out of our country and we can unite to fix the country so no foreigners can ever invade us again but Al Shabab don't care about Somali people they are in it for their own interest!

The only thing we'll negotiate about is their preferred method of execution.

I'm a firm supporter of crucifixion, mostly for the irony.

Alshabab believe the cause they are fighting for is worth dying for, you can't expect them to drop their arms. Mind you the very forces fighting Alshabab are the same ones arming them. So ideally, the TFG should feel sorry for its people now that they're more 'rational' and ask the foreigners to leave because clearly its taken too long to suppress Alshabab. TFG is the weak link in Somalia.

President Obama and the US government is trying peace talks with the Taliban, because there's no military solution as it's impossible to defeat the Taliban (the US military's own admission). The same concept applies to al-Shabaab.
