Political genius doesn't win wars, military prowess does. Hitler may have lost the war but his rise was spectacular and his powers of manipulation and propaganda were exceptional. He only lost because (a) He was too egotistical to let his generals have the freedom they needed to operate effectively (b) He engaged in too many wars, on too many fronts against too many enemies - essentially what did in the other military/political genius Napoleon.
Those are political mistakes! He lost the war, not because of his military machine, which could have destroyed the unprepared red army, but he lost the war due to his political mistakes.

Bro fighting all your enemies at the same time is a military mistake. Whether or not it's also political is debatable - they do say war is an extension of politics. His eastern campaign was a disaster and was the straw that broke the camel's back. Of course he lost the war because of his military machine. His army was arguably the most advanced, tech-wise, in the world but he had limited resources and manpower. You don't pick a fight with your neighbour when he has vastly more men and firepower than you. His loss in North Africa, again military, and allowed the allies to cut off another supply for resources.
