Do you think the General siad bare govt could've been easily defeated in just 2 years the regime was weakened from 1986 till the end of 1988 the army was weakened with in a few years , 2/3 of the army being stationed in Somaliland with mass defection to the SNM from 1986 till 1988 army generals from hiiraan were defecting to the SNM. The Somali govt at that time was getting Military aid from the united states and before that from the Soviet union. But in the 80s Somalia was about to be bankrupt because of the war with Ethiopia the state was economically in deep shit, living on aid . Rebels like the SNM they were the only rebel movement fighting from 1984 till 1989. So there were many factors that Killed the regime.
