Architecture:House styles you would like to see in Somalilan

Postby Siciid85 » Thu Sep 20, 2012 11:01 pm

As we know the residential house styles in the Somali inhabited areas is not really that appealing for the most part. It is time we inject different architectural house
styles that would be befitting for the environment in Somaliland or atleast create our own unique style with the many architects of Somaliland origin around.
Here is a list of elegant style houses that i would like Somaliland construction companies to adopt and start building in residential areas across the cities and towns.
Feel free to share your preferred house styles.

Here is mine.

That is a myth alot of Somaliland cities and towns do have enough space but some of dawlada hoose lack proper city/town planning skills while some do have
what it takes to sustain a city planning. If you check google earth much of the roads in Berbera, Burco and Ceerigaabo are well planned and people aren't allowed to
build a house in the middle of a road.

Portuguese style villas are elegant aswell. There is a Dubai developer who started building Portuguese style villas in Pakistan.

abdi.ismail French manor houses are not appealing at all. That kind of architecture wouldn't fit in Somaliland, American antebellum house style which
originated from the warm climate southern states of USA would make more sense for Somaliland environment than a Chateau.

I agree. Parts of Mogadishu like the old Hamarweyne district have interesting architecture that has Italian, Omani influence.

You need paved roads and streets before building those houses. Nice house in ugly surroundings is a no no.

Siciid, chateaus are good in more lush areas like Sanaag, Sheikh and Borama etc.

Most of these houses wouldn't suit the harsh climate of geeska afrika, we need to look at neighbouring (or not) countries with similar climate for ideas.

Cumar nice especially the Khartoum and Tunis ones, those kind of styles should also be promoted to the JSL construction companies.

Abdi.Ismail roads are already being built inside the cities, having lack of roads is no excuse to have ugly buildings. What Somaliland needs is more appealing
architect house styles not medieval French style houses lol.

We could use and develop some of our own styles like this below in Somaliland and make it widespread surely it is better than the usual plain
low-lying Somali bungalow buildings. Minus the colours, we should make it white.
