teamo, somali is based on the latin script. read somali journals or websites and your reading/writing will improve drastically. And yes you can know the spelling of a word but not its meaning. spelling is a grammatical thing, nothing to do with understanding a word. but if you have trouble just write one or two letters of the beggining of the word you're looking for and that online dictionary will list completed words that follow it and maybe you can filter it out.

self, you're welcome :up:

agentofchaos, kalgacalka iyo caashaqa sow isku mid aha? kalgacaltooyo is the somali word for caashaq which is arabic.

Hi all, I've heard these words being used many times and I wanna know their meaning.

Daren=(Dareen*) =Feeling
kalgacal=Sympathy
Cashaq= ( Caashaq* )= Love
Maamul= Management
urur= Organization
Muqaal= Appearance
Hilac= ( Hillaac*) Lightning

and a few others but I can't think of them right now.

You're welcome.
Thank you very much. The meanings sound simple, I don't understand why they use such complicated words for such simple meanings. :?

Now I wanna know how to say the days of the week and the months of the year in Somali? Can you help me with that?

All of those words have 2 syllables except for one. That's almost as simple as words get.

You spelled them correctly. I read you writing in somali here and there. Somali is very simple once you speak the language. I missed schooling throughout my childhood, just learnt the Quran and not even finished it. But it did not take me too long to read and write somali.

I think caashaq is a bit more stronger than love at least in the Arabice language. They differentiate between love (xub) and caashaq.
yes, kalgacal is sympathy but with effection.
