Basra,

You'll be the first to know, if I ever take the taste :)

Yes, a bit. It's the Canadian in me. I can't help but feel appreciative of everything we have here. Most tests I've taken put me in the "Social Libertarian" category, but that doesn't really apply. I'm all for private property and enterprise, with the exception of major resources like oil and gas. You'd probably hate me

But most of that stuff won't happen.

He is without a doubt the only Republicunt I would have voted for, this is truly a sad news.
There are some Libertarian principles I disagree with. I think in the end, I still wouldn't vote.

What is interesting, the Third-Party debates were left with representatives of the two ends of the political spectrum. I don't know if there's any politician that shares all of my views.

maya, i really like you. we need u back home. My uncle lately was telling me m becoming to much capitalist, i think it is due to doug casey. Nevertheless since i believe in Islamic Economic System it fits ur description 0f being Social capitalism.

Regarding the resource sector, I believe it is better being managed by private company with a public oversight authority while at same time giving back to the public cover a good percentage.

Right now, we have a state-owned Chinese corp buying a private Canadian oil company, and a lot of questions are being raised in the country.

Social capitalism sounds about right.

Eheey! I dont like Chinese companies except when they r doing road construction, they r good at it. I believe all business should be run by private entities with the right balance and checks, i havnt yet decided abt water, electricity and healthy though.

Social capitalism is good if it can be implemented.

Water without a question should be a civil right. Health care should be accessible universally through taxes, with the option to opt out to the private sector. Those that opt out wont pay the tax, but won't receive the service. Educating a population only betters the country as a whole. "Free" post-secondary should be discussed, only if current debt is wiped out or drastically reduced. We have free elementary to secondary education, so why stop there? But current welfare policies need to change for all of this to happen.

Looking at the world today, corporations and corrupt governments are the reason we have such terrible living standards in most of the world. As much as I hate the overreaching of governments, I hate the corruption of multinationals. Sometimes, resources should be for the people rather than for pockets. If governments are going to exist, they must guarantee the increase of living standards and protection of liberties. Social capitalism sounds nice, but unfortunately I don't know how realistic it is.
