Well even if you can read modern Arabic , it will be virtually impossible for you without years and years of reading to understand classical Arabic language , like in old books and manuscripts , so if you just wants to read modern books and papers , i guess you can do it in 2 years, classic Arabic is different story.

Xplaya-

I am not trying be as literate in Arabic as I am in Somali. I can read and write, what I want is to learn to speak. Pretty much. I think expansion will occur overtime but the more immersed I get, the more I will find myself to have progressed. I am not expecting miracles so soon.

Monday-

Sarcasm?

it's well known majority of arabs dont master academic arabic. that takes long years of study academically. believe it or not been studying, mo3aliqat and jahila poems for years now as being majoring quran and fiqh. and still ive to keep my qamous al moheed beside me. so if you just want modern arabic and just to have decent convo in arabic. i would suggest you to keep around you arabic speakers and watching news in arabic and debate programs.

the problem with so many dialogs too, even in one country like qatar. in our house alone, my mom speaks her heavy san'ani and we speak typical 7ather dialog and here my dad speaks, mix of fusha, adani, egyptian and khaliji.lol

I hacked a Michel Thomas arabic course, its good but i hate it because its masri,

Niigu= we come? in masri?, that doesn't sound much arabic to me, i want to learn fus7a standard arabic, or atleast the one spoken in this program.

Wallahi masri gives me a headache, simply because of these things, they say " Ismaak/ik eeh?" means what is your name, where did the Maa go?

what dialect is this?

The thing with Masri is that no one takes your black ass seriously if you speak it with all the kidas, and g sounds, and all that :mindblown:
