Should we Empower Somali Women

Postby caburiye1 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 10:23 am

Guys,

I have seen somali women struggle when they become divorced. I have seen them dropping kids off on a day care going to work, picking the kids in the afternoon, buying grocery, coming home to cook. That is what a typical Single Independent white women does. I know our girls are capable. My Question is, Should we train them for that role while they are still married? God Forbid if you die or divorce her, then she is ready to jump into the pool. Maybe the husband should go for a 3 month vacation or a business trip to another country and don't leave her with any money. Just a job, a car and tell her to take care of the family while am gone. I am sure she would be a different person when he comes back.

What do you think?

Are you suggesting Somalinetters leave their wives? I'm sure they do that enough since most of them have 10,000+ posts.

I am generally saying we baby sit our women from the wedding night till we die/dirvorce them. When they don't have a man to lean on, the sky falls on them and they have no way out. Some become so helpless that, they even go crazy. People call them single mother wareertay. That is because we don't train them for the worst. This is soo stupid... What gets on my nerves is when farax tries to justify their failure in performing their duties. Instead of thinking lets train the women for all the responsibility im gonna leave her with, u brothers should educate and encourage somali brothers that they are still the fathers of their children and should assist their ex as much as possible.

Nacala kugo tal the asses who only think of themselves and ditch all their responsibilities.

I don't think a sane mother would need any training, its encoded in her mother instincts to do well by her family without male figure around.

You are Missing the Point. This was supposed to be positive. I am not saying we have plans to leave. I am saying lets prepare the sisters for the worst while we are still there. What is wrong with training someone for a possibility. You are only thinking of Divorce, What about If the husband dies?

Horta Habrahaan maxaa dhiiga ugu karaah markii wax lawaydiiyo. Dee wuxu waa hadal oon ee qof lafuri maayo maanta. WTF aa kaqaldan maamooyinkaan.

I've never met a woman who couldnt handle looking after her kids, its just the work part. Maybe if certain Faaraxs were cool with a working wife we wouldnt have this issue. Share the household duties and the income and most of the problem is solved.

abaayo,

What I am worried about is, If the Women has been taken care of by her husband for her whole life and he either divorces her or dies, She would not know where to begin. She would have to work, take the kids to dugsi, Help them with their homework, take them to day care in the morning, cook for them, go shopping with them etc. She needs to be prepared. Atleast 3 months training to do everything on her own while the husband goes somewhere. He should not leave anymoney with her. Just assume he got out of the house and he has been struck by lightening. BOOM. Her world stops.

After the 3 months, we should reverse Roles. The wife leaves for 3 months and the husband takes over everything. Cook, clean, work, daycare, shopping, cleaning the kids etc.

Empower Them? You make them sound like they're weak or something. I don't know what planet you're from but Somali women are the backbone of our society.
