give credit where it was due..
This was during the early phase of Siyads regime, before it turned it MOD.
He recently eilminited all opposition in the SRC, he foked over allot of the corrupt politicians.

Till 1974 he was a superstar and most Isaaq were siyad groupies..

It was sad but true, he didnt reveal his true self till the 77/78 war, the bad blood started there.
and after the 78 majerteen coup attempt, he started getting paranoid and the government turned into a MOD tribal fiefdom, not a state.
Isaaq were still quite but grumbling, till he went after our money in 1980.

second class citizenship is fine if you have money, but without money you are a lamaoyaan midgo,( no offense to madhiban)
Gurey, are you referring to nationalization of private businesses or was there other means/methods that wealth was appropriated by the State?

Last century, nearly half a century ago and the state could take care of their own.

after the governments "scientific socialism" mumbo jumbo recked the bannana and sugar industry, livestock was the nations largest source of hard currency, and it was
under the control of burco merchents.
There was the franco-valuta system where the government agreed to take 40% of the foriegn currency as a tax, while letting the mostly isaaq merchants continue independence.
but this changed later on and the government attempted a complete takeover, along with a ban on qat.

True but this affected only the upper class or the elite of Isaaq. Majority of Isaaq in the north were not pro SNM until Maxamed Siyaad decided to bomb Hargeisa and other cities with fighter jets in 1988, that's when 99.9% of Isaaq became pro SNM because he did something unacceptable. Hargeisa had been bombed before by fighter jets but it was Cuban in 1978 and Ethiopian in mid 80's but the civilians didnt expect their own government do something like that.

no actually the isaaq population were mostly against the government even before the creation of the SNM - it was due to the dhagaxtuur incident that spurred the creation of SNM.

Why are you dividing the people (blessed Duuriyada) and SNM? The people were the movement from beginning all the way until the end, and formed a crucial part of the movement. Weather providing SNM information about government forces or providing the SNM military and medical assistance. With out the people it would be nearly impossible cleansing the former regime from the blessed land. You should've seen the people when the SNM seized Burco & Hargeysa in may 1988.

May god bless all the freedom fighters we lost during the struggle just to give us this opportunity.

Waa wax aad iska dhaadhiciseen. What about the SNM soldiers that killed other SNM soldiers because of qabiil? I have 2 relatives who were SNM and they were killed by other SNM. It was in the Hawd and nimanka diley waxay ahaayeen HY, they thought they were Sacad Muuse but it didnt matter because if they knew they were HJ, they would've killed them anyway. This is not a secret, cidaad doontid weydii. There was rivalry and colaad within the SNM, how do you expect the majority of civilians to support this movement? Welibana badankood ay waxba ka ogeyn the movement until SNM reached the cities and the regime decided to bomb Hargeisa. There was dissatisfaction with the regime but that doesnt automatically translate to pro SNM.

Settle down kids. It is no secret the people were with the SNM even in the early 80s, in his 1986 visit to Hargeysa Afweyne/Siad Bare asked the populace
there to stop supporting the SNM but they told him to fuck off they will not will sell short their boys who were fighting in a legitimate noble battle.
