To the landers:

Since you worship the sanctity and inviobility of Somaliland's colonial borders; why are you offended when we somalians respond the same towards Somalia's internationally recognized demarcated border post 1960?

Somaliland's obsession towards most of Sool, Cayn and eastern Sanaag reaks of hypocrisy. They say the will of the majority must be respected but they refuse to accept the arab leagues proposed referrendum on Somaliland's independence which was due to be held throughout Somalia.

The people of Somaliland need to decide if they want to have a clan-fiefdom(in which case most somalis would say good riddance) or if they want a autonomous region under a federal Somalia. However, you cant have your cake and eat it too!

btw congratulations to the people of Somaliland for having a free and transparent parliamentary elections. Although we dont agree with some of the policies of the hargeysa administration its always good to give credit where credit is due Very Happy

Appallo

I did not quite get that. There was no "demarcated borders" in Somalia in 1960. there were borders established by the colonial authorities for somaliland and for Somalia. We in somaliland voluntarily gave away our independence after establishing the first independent somali nation ever. So those borders are colonial. We have two options: We either reject all colonial boundaries and start all over again or we stick with them.

Personally I have absolutely no problems if some of teh Harti want to join Puntland or Somalia etc. But the realioty is that both Dhulbhanate and Warsangeli have divided loyalties as the recent elections have shown. Xuddun and dozens of other villages voted en masse while Las anod did not. Whole Dhulbhanate sub-clan s are fervently pro-Somaliland while others hate it with passion.

And Somaliland will never turn down a refrendum as long as it is held in Somaliland only. If Scotland wants to secede from britain the refrendum will be held in Scotland only. If any of teh German landers want to secede the pols will only take place in that Lander. In the Sudan there will be a refrendum in 6 years for the secession of the South. the refrendum will take place ONLY in the south.

It is ludicrous to claim that the refrendumn should take place all over Somalia.

Thanks for congratulating the people of somaliland. lets hope the people of somalia are soon given a similar opportunity instead of being "represented" by blood-soaked bunch of self-appointed mini-thugs and assorted morons.
