A lot of the time the women who choose to stay in these relationships have low self-esteem so they might think that they deserve it or that they can't find anyone better, might have been physically abused before (even in childhood), might have grown up seeing their own parent being beat regularly, and if there are children, they don't want to deprive their children of their father. But if he is beating the wife regularly and sometimes out of control, it's highly likely he will turn to his children to beat. Children who grow up knowing that their parent is being beat grow up in fear and anxiety. They would be better off if they're parents divorced. I don't know why people seem to think that the children will always be distraught if their parents divorced. That's usually cadan children who react that way or children who grew up seeing their parents get along, so it comes as a shock.

Most likely, he beat her many times. And badly as well if she was willing to press charges and have him jailed. It wouldn't be acceptable if he did that to his boss so why would should it be acceptable if he did that to his wife?

Cushiticreflections you are right. He beat her for two years. She hid it until she ended up in the emergency room. She is a very beautiful and nice girl who didn't deserve abuse But now her family knows everything so they are making her press every charge and I don't feel sorry for him at all even though he swears that he is sorry and won't do it again, he just didn't understand American law. But it is bad that he will never get to know his baby son since he has a restraining order against him. He deeply regrets that he lost his only son, but every action has consequences.

That's what they all say! Studies/statistics show once it starts it never stops until the victim dies or ends the marriage/relationship.
