The President: Federalism is here to stay in Somalia

Postby The`Republic » Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:27 pm

I have noticed some guys here think the government's caution on Jubbaland is actually a way that stops Federalism. People like myself have corrected them say no, the process is to be worked out but the country will be federated and Jubbaland and other states will arise after understanding about the the process has been ratified through parliament.

The president was asked a question in Qatar by a guy I would liken to Xiinoow for example. The President came out very strong and clear correcting him saying...Federalism is here to stay, the constitution AND the political understanding among Somalis have agreed on this AND that the mandate of his government is to federate the country. So he pretty much says there are two issues:

1. Legitimacy of Federalism
2. Process of Federalism

The first one is there is full legitimacy for Federalism but the process has to be worked out.

He also said before he will not accept clan based federalism. Two or more state merge not two clans or sub clans.
