Egypt/Saudi blocked S/Land from Arab League

Postby hydrogen » Sun Mar 31, 2013 1:51 pm

Most Arab states are officially supportive of Somali unity and unwilling to consider Somaliland as an independent entity. Egypt’s stance, which is particularly opposed to independence, stems from its desire to build Somalia into a regional counterweight to Ethiopia, out of its longtime fear of Ethiopia’s potential for asserting control of Nile waters. Additionally, Egypt is concerned that a sovereign Somaliland could provide strategic basing support to Israel and the United States at the mouth of the Red Sea. Egypt’s government has blocked Somaliland’s recognition in the Arab League, which officially recognizes the TFG as the sole authority in Somalia. To the extent that Egyptian officials have communicated directly with Hargeisa, it has been to encourage Somaliland’s participation in talks on Somali unity. Saudi Arabia has ceded to pressure from Egypt and other Arab states to cease trade that benefits Somaliland’s government.

Old news, Arab League is in favor of United Somalia to counter the Ethiopians. Egypt has most interest in Unity because of the Nile Issue.

Only Israel & Ethiopia supports Balkanization

This is not something new, it was during the Mubarak era. Some Arab countries think a united Somalia can do their bidding for them against Ethiopia
in regards to the Nile issue but it doesn't matter. At the end of the day the decision is with Somaliland and we shall keep Somalia weak as long as our
demands are not met.

These are the Isaaqs (A 'Dir' dichotomy - With Djibouti folk) that can succeed (with their triangle and only that triangle)!. Abandon your abtirsi while you're at it !

That is rich coming from a descendant of the Akhdams(Jeberti) street sweepers and garbage collectors of Yemen.

Siciid, if you weren't so blinded by tribal hatred you would know that the Akhdams that are referred to in the history books were descendents of Abraha's former kingdom over Arabia. Many of his military outposts were based in Southern Yemen and despite the lies you and other Dirs try to peddle, it is self evident that the Akhdams you refer too were the abandoned offspring and are a testement too Xabashi power. The only reason they are abused today is because the Bedoin arabs of Yemen still carry cuqdad because Abaraha subjugated them to state of humiliation.

So even calling us Akhdams (although it is false) is nothing short of a compliment

Actually, the Arab world somewhat loathed Siad Barre for his crazy policies, the 77 war for example. Anwar Sadat actually called him to ask if he had gone crazy. The only reason Somalia had a good connecttion with the Arab world and was able to join the AL with ease is because of the work of certain ministers that were well connected to the Arab world like Omar Arte Ghalid and Osman Jeelle.

No man this is bullshit, Anwar Sadat himself was a war criminal who signed a treaty with Israel that sealed the unfortunate fate of palestine today. so he has no right to speak of siad barre.

One thing we know is that Arabs are losers and they will lose this one to, their ineffective club called the Arab league is also nothing but a womans gathering coffee house Arabs lost the geopolitical war already Ethiopia will finish the Blue dam in 2 years time and sell electricity to both sudan and south sudan, and Egypt is losing time. Even if they wanted to use the Walanweyns as proxy it will be useless since they are guarded by AU troops  . The political balance the Egyptians want will never happen ever in their life time. The policies Gamal abdul nassir started to unite the arabs of a pan arabism baathist in the middle east is a dead cause now. Even Egypt and Sudan are not on one line. Where was Egypt the past 20 years when the Koonfurians were butchering slaughtering each other where were the Egyptians when the TPLF were killings thousands of Somalis In Somalia. Where were the arabs when sudan was attacked by Israel nothing they are bunch of naagos sitting there. Afweyne used to subcontract his foreign policy to that of saudi arabia and Egypt but gone are those days. All the Somaliland enemies are gone dead six feet under or in exile Gadafi gone Mubarak gone Ali abdallah salah gone. The Arabs were humiliated so many times by the tiny Jewish society in the middle east while they surround them. That tells you that the Egyptians will lose this one to. Even general afweyne was tricked by the ayrabs the Yemenis and the Libyans all backed the Xabashis when it came to it. I think the Hawiyes will think twice before they allow to be used by Egyptians as proxies. Hawiyes if Ethiopia and Egypt are fighting you have to be neutral , dawlad ciise in Djibouti will be neutral. Us in Somaliland will also be neutral

khalid,

unfortunately for you the opposite is true, Xassan sheekh is very closer to Arabs, Qatari-arabs funded his campaign, Kuwaiti arabs also gave him support, Xassan Sheekh's group damu jadiid is also linked with the muslim brotherhood in egypt so Xassan sheekh is very cozy with Morsi and co. it seems like beesha hawiye's highest representative has been made, funded and supported by arabs, so I don't think beesha hawiye will bite the hands that feed them.
