Poll is for men.

My dear sisters, what would you do if a hubby asked for a Pre Nupital Agreement? :whew:

I would. The question is; is prenuptial agreement enforceable among Somalis?

Isn't prenuptial or marriage contract already part of islam? Correct me if I am wrong.

I think it would depend on what's in it.

Are the rights just and fair? I personally would see someone who is knowledgeable in Islamic Law about the contract.

They don't have a choice. Its a signed contract. Im not talking about in Somalia, the man takes everything there

The reason I ask is because a lot of people don't care for the rules in Islam, if a divorce happens, the man ends up losing almost everything.

So you won't get angry or offended if a man came and asked you to sign a prenuptial agreement?

irrelevant to "US" muslims. Geo, I knew u were an atheist. When muslims, or Somalis for that matter-- divorce, they separate their own separate way. They are only obligated to pay child support, and that is the only way the law of the western land will infiltrate the sancta-matrimony of the Muslim couple. Only Christians who actually have marriage certificate will practice the 50/50 wealth split incase of divorce. (and hence the talk of signing prenuptial contract being irrelevant.) :whew:

Are you crazy woman :mindblown: How the hell did you come to label me an atheist?

I'm asking because I know Somalis and other Muslims battle it out in the local Family Law Courts neglecting the Sharia.

It isn't about the money though. Most skinnies in here own houses, and some even two or more. It's those assets that must be protected.

A xalimo tried to do a close friend of mine some harm. She was lectured by envious xalimoz. They talked her into telling her husband, who was making $80K+ a year and owned a large house. He bought her that house, along with a new GMC YUKON, and she balled. Well, long story short, all that came to an abrupt and a sad end when she tried to bargain for more. She wanted her own seperate account, another house, all the alaab to be replaced bimonthly, and her dahab to be replaced semiannaully. :mindblown: She got her GMC car snatched from her, house snatched from her, all the money in the house snatched from plus a divorce and left with 3 kids for her to raise on her own. She moved to seattle to claim some cayr last I heard. Homie is Nairobi now where he bought a real state and is kicking. :whew:

Salool if you don't want this to happen to you, don't ask questions and sign the paper.

I'd sign it as long as it is nullified in the event of any backstabbing activity on his part. And also there'd have to be a clear ongoing record of any material contribution I made directly or indirectly. If we're going to go count money then it has to be all the way through
