Problem with Somali Imaams

I enjoy an English or Somali Khutba. But these last weeks they are having jimco khutba's in Arabic. I can only make out a little

In Indian/pakistani mosque's they have their Khutba's in Urdu or English.

Almost never Arabic

Khutbah doesn't HAVE to be in Arabic. I feel ya on that man. Why mus they read it in Arabic when the majority of the somali population don't speak arabic....

the funny thing is that i always understood the khutbah in arabic..masha'Allah.

For a somali ist very easy.

My cousin from the baadiyo who didnt know anything speaks fluent arabic in just 4 months.

Gurey---Lol..i'm the one that tells every1 to learn arabic..i want to more than anythingI went to arabic school in Somalia....i speak SOME arabic but i'm not fluent. Do you think an intership in an arab countryu will help?

Arabic is essential man. Its the language of the Quran and its the language of Aakhira.

So my advice is learn it, instead of reading these fiction books

Read The Koran more man. And besides there are many non muslims(and many non arab muslims) who make the effort to learn the Arabic lang.....so try and make some effort.

Caawar---Don't talk to me about effort. I bought the books...took the classes at my university (1100 per arabic course)...It was a waste of time but i did get easy A's...It's for american people man..U learn how to make a sentence in arabic in the third course...$3300 to write "ana adhabu ila'l beyt"

I think the language used in khutba should be the language most spoken in the area it doesn't have to Arabic.

You either value money, or the Arabic Lang....


I know its an easy choice cos the comparison is not the same....but the end result is worth it man.

If you only knew how beautiful is the Quran when you really know the Arabic...it makes you cry a river.

Lionheart you should look for more advanced courses in your state,
my experience is that even native arabic speakers living in western countries lose thier mastery of the language.
Living in an arab country would help.

would you believe that in Sydney very few of the arabs i met spoke good arabic, and i even used to help teach arabic and Deen in the somali cultural centre, and even help out in the mosque as well.

Cawar--I'm fully aware of the impact reading the Qur'an in Arabic on some1. It's very beautiful

I'm saying these courses offered at american univerisities are for people who have never studied arabicbefore..the first course was learning the alphabet...lol...I could read and write arabic i could write and read somali or english as dugsi was the first school i went to. I finishe the Qur'an at 13 and took many tranliteration lessons..I speak about 30% and understand about 50%..i just need to master the language...and speak it like arabs do..
