he is able to do this because the general mood is against alshabab so the snitching goes against them.

my fear for somaliland is not about alshabaab,
my fear is that somaliland is ripe for an islamist revolution, the only thing keeping it at bay is Somaliland .

Abti, at the end of the day, you and I have more in common than these groups. While we bicker about policies, these fools will not hesitate to behead us if given the opportunity.

Hundreds of youth leave Hargeisa to join AS. At some point, they will return home and when they do, then the birds come home to roost. Look at PL, they are experiencing a flock of birds who returned home to roost.

Actually, most of the gunmen are not from Puntland itself. That's just where they do their dirty work.

Notwithstanding the gunrunner Atom, the overwhelming majority of the bombings and assassinations that have struck Puntland are the handiwork of either:

a) moryaan who cross over into Puntland from lawless Galmudug, murder Puntland public officials, then hurry back to their southern safe havens outside of Puntland jurisdiction;

or

b) moryaan hiding amongst the ~500,000 maskiin southern IDPs that Puntland provides shelter to in the camps on the outskirts of Bosaso and the state's other major cities.

I was just watching the somali channel and that jawahiri, head of parliament was being interviewed. The interviewer half way though the conversation pointed out the ugandise soldiers protecting him inside his office. He asked him why do u have these soldiers inside your office to protect you, they couldve a least stood outside the building. The jawahiri dude got annoyed and cut the interview.
walahi it was disgusting. I didnt know the somali government is thayt low. Every minister including the president have amisom protection inside their offices when they're alone. They couldve hired their relatives to look after them instead at least they're somali...but this...?

It would of course be preferable if Somali forces were to handle all of the SFG's personal security instead of ajnabi. But as others have said, the circumstances just don't allow it.

The turning point seems to have been the assassination attempt last year against Hassan Sheikh, which took place only a few days after his election. Somali officials were at the time a significant part of the SFG's security detail, and it nearly cost the new president his life. A parliamentarian was also murdered shortly afterwards.

Al-Shabaab has repeatedly shown its ability to infilitrate the army ranks; so AMISOM or some other foreign force will in the meantime have to provide security for the central government until the professionalization of the SFG military is complete.
