Postby Tanker » Thu Aug 15, 2013 5:21 pm

Asmara, Eritrean nationals who came from different parts of the world to participate in the 4th Eri-Youth and the National Eritrea Festival planted over 7,000 tree seedlings in Halhale College of Business and Economics and Adi-Keih College of Arts and Social Science on July 23.

The over 3,000 nationals from Sweden, USA, England, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and Saudi-Arabia stated that they would contribute the necessary financial support for three years for the protection of the planted trees.

Expressing his pride for participating in the reforestation program to commemorate the martyrs, Mr. Amanuel Tesfalidet from Sweden said that he always plants trees whenever he comes to Eritrea starting from his first visit in 2006. He also expressed happiness to see the seedlings he planted in Sawa and Martyrs Park growing.

Similarly, Ms. Senait Tewoldemedihin from Switzerland who participated in the reforestation program with her 4 children expressed satisfaction with the on-going development activities.

Ms. Ruth Negash from USA, organizer of the program, explained that the objective is for the Eritrean youth to plant 1 million tree seedlings within three years and conduct anti-deforestation campaign in various institutions and villages. She also commended the collaboration of branch offices of the Ministry of Agriculture, different Administrations and NUEYS.
