Your comment reminded me of something. I was taking an econ develop. course and the professor suddenly says "Somalia is the leading country" and I look at him and say to myself "Nigga Please, I hate profs who come drunk"; and then he completes his sentence saying "in the fourth world"; I said "fu.ck yo"!!

Luckily, I do a lot of quiet self talking; otherwise I would have been the leading student in the "F" list.

It's actually interesting given the fact that Singapore is more or less a dictatorship disguised as a democracy. Just goes to show that no matter what system is in place, government can make it work so long as it's for the good of the country.

It has a strong one party rule, their former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew who ruled the country in 30 years and build it says that is the only way to bring prosperity and stability to under-developed nations.

And it worked for them. It was their own unique way of doing things. The French, British or American models of governance might not be ideal for everyone, people are different. Singaporean styled democracy worked for Singapore.

A little known fact is that Singapore has/had oil and had enough to grease the development + a handy dictatorship + its a small island easy to govern and rule.
